In most cases, your patients treating physician would make this determination. In some instances, the patient’s family may request this type of transfer.

Ultimately a patients medical needs, Physicians recommendation and urgency of their case determine the decision as to where the patient is transferred to. If the transfer is requested by the family, then every consideration is made to accommodate a request to get their family member to the facility of their choosing.
Yes. In most cases a family member or companion may accompany the patient during the Transport. However if the patient is critical and an additional crew member is required for the transfer, this may limit the amount of space available for passengers. Your Flight Coordinator can review the options for you.
For most patients, Commercial Medical insurance or travel insurance covers all or a portion of the costs involved. Private family requests, that are not insurance cases, can be paid by credit card or wire transfer.
Most insurances cover full or partial payment for this type of air ambulance service, depending on the members insurance policy. We know that coverage will vary from one policy to the next and our Claims Team will work diligently on behalf of the patient to determine the type of benefits they have and can speak directly to the family to answer any questions they have about their coverage. This helps reduce the level of stress from the situation and enables patients to focus their energy on treatment and recovery.
